French Organization Holds Mysterious Workshop for Sudanese Political Forces in Congo
The Umma Party, led by Dr. Al-Sadig al-Hadi al-Mahdi, has apologized for attending a workshop for Sudanese political forces invited by a French organization in Congo.
The party’s president’s office said, in a statement, that the party received an invitation from the French organization Promédération to participate in a workshop scheduled to be held in Congo-Brazzaville during August 26-28.
The party explained that, according to the invitation, the workshop would discuss agendas related to the current situation in Sudan, prospects for a solution, and mechanisms for emerging from the tragedies of the current war.
The party thanked the organization for the invitation, but emphasized that the party’s proposals categorize international intervention as either benign and desirable or in good faith, but do not take into account the complexities of what was previously proposed, particularly conferences held in Sudan.
The party explained that experience has proven that any approach that does not promote inclusiveness in addressing Sudanese issues and engaging the Sudanese interior will not succeed, especially as the political situation has become more complicated.
The party stressed the need to deal sensitively with the situation in Sudan and to take into account the views of stakeholders within the country, mainly those who have no voice—those who claim that no political group or movement can express their concerns and priorities, namely the Sudanese people.
The party stated that the Sudanese people inside Sudan affirm that any attempt that does not take these considerations into account will be viewed by those involved as malicious foreign interference.
