Military Commander: No Signs of Imminent Attack on Al-Obeid
Spokesperson for Sudan’s Special Operations Forces, Mohamed Didan, said security and military forces deployed in Al-Obeid, North Kordofan State, are fully prepared to respond to any potential threat, stressing that there are no indications of an imminent attack on the city.
Reports had circulated that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia was mobilizing for an assault on Al-Obeid after videos emerged showing RSF fighters in the Jabal Abu Sunun area southwest of the city declaring their readiness to attack.
Speaking to Ultra Sudan, Didan said claims of looming security threats were intended to spread panic and drive residents to flee the city. He added that attempts were also being made to create divisions among the Sudanese Armed Forces, mobilized volunteers, and the Joint Forces through the dissemination of rumors and misinformation.
He described such efforts as acts of internal sabotage serving the enemy’s agenda and called on the public not to be swayed by them.
