Fall of Online “Arms Market” Kingpins in Omdurman

The Central Criminal Investigations Directorate has dismantled a dangerous criminal network consisting of two individuals who specialized in trading and selling military equipment, combat tools, and ammunition through online platforms in Omdurman.

The operation followed precise field monitoring of social media groups used to facilitate sales and delivery through complex arrangements. A team from the Federal Operations Directorate (Karari Division) carried out a professional infiltration of one of the network’s members through a staged purchase, successfully luring the suspects into a carefully prepared trap.

Field officers identified Al-Wadi Street in Karari Locality as the designated delivery point. A swift raid was conducted at the site, leading to the arrest of the suspects while they were aboard a Toyota Land Cruiser.

Authorities seized 655 rounds of assorted ammunition and five pieces of combat equipment, including modern sniper rifles, pistols, and advanced optical scopes. Officers also confiscated 12 boxes of ammunition and military uniforms.

During preliminary investigations, the suspects admitted managing their activities through specialized online groups and acknowledged that parts of the shipment had previously been sold using the same method.

Authorities registered a case under Article 26 of the Sudan Weapons and Ammunition Act at Al-Nil City Police Station. Investigations are continuing to identify and apprehend all parties connected to the network in preparation for bringing them to trial.
