European Sanctions Expected on Hemeidti and His Brother

The European Parliament is moving to impose sanctions on the commanders of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, top of them the militia commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemeidti), his brother, the second-in-command of the Rapid Support Forces, Abdel-Rahim Dagalo, and Abu Agla Kaykal, commander of the Sudan Shield Forces.
The European Parliament called for an immediate ceasefire and the resumption of the political process under the auspices of the African Union (AU) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGADl, with the aim of reaching a comprehensive political solution that ends the escalating conflict in the country.
The Parliament reiterated its call for an immediate cessation of all forms of violence and urged all warring parties to fully adhere to international humanitarian law, ensuring the protection of civilians and limiting ongoing human rights violations.
