Emergency Meeting to Be Held Between Al-Burhan and Kamil Idris

Press reports said President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, will hold an emergency meeting with the Prime Minister Kamil Idris and ministers of the economic sector to discuss and address the country’s deteriorating economic conditions.

The meeting comes amid a rapid collapse of the Sudanese pound, with the US dollar rising to around 9,000 Sudanese pounds in recent hours, while many traders have suspended their activities and closed their shops due to exchange-rate instability.

Economic sources said the anticipated meeting aims to develop urgent measures to halt the deterioration, amid fears of a worsening cost-of-living crisis and rising prices of basic commodities.
