Democratic Bloc Rejects Dialogue with Hamdok Alliance in Switzerland

Ten political organizations and armed movements have announced their rejection of an invitation from a French organization to hold talks in Switzerland with the alliance of former Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok (Sumood).

In a statement, the groups affiliated with the Democratic Bloc said they had received an invitation from the French organization Promediation to participate in a workshop on the political process alongside the Sumood Alliance in the Swiss city of Nyon from October 29 to 31.

The statement explained that the bloc’s Presidential Council discussed the invitation but did not reach a consensus on participating in the workshop.

The Justice and Equality Movement, the Supreme Council of Beja Nazir (chieftains), the Sudan Liberation Movement – Transitional Council, the Sudan Liberation Movement – Tambour Faction, the Unionist Party / Revolutionary Front led by Al-Tom Hajo, the Sudan Liberation Army – Leadership Council, the Revolutionary Awakening Council, the Sudanese Alliance, the Civil Gathering – Eastern Sudan led by Mirghani Mousa, and the Together to Save the Nation Bloc all announced their refusal to engage in direct talks with the Sumood Alliance, describing it as a political ally of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

They affirmed that they would only engage with Sumood within the framework of a comprehensive Sudanese dialogue involving all Sudanese parties, once the necessary conditions and confidence-building measures have been met.

The organizations reiterated their firm commitment to an inclusive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue that brings together all national forces—except those who have committed war crimes, crimes against humanity, or acts of genocide against the Sudanese people.

The statement called for focusing all efforts on confronting the RSF militia and its allies, and on responding to the killings and brutal assaults being carried out against innocent civilians in the city of El-Fashir and other parts of Sudan.
