(Dagalo) orders arresting hundreds in Darfur

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia carried out a campaign of arrests targeting civilians and military personnel in the town of Rehaid al-Berdi, 160 kilometers southwest of Nyala, South Darfur State.

An eyewitness, who identified himself as “Abu Mohammed,” reported that a militia force consisting of 22 four-wheel-drive combat vehicles, led by the militia commander in Rehaid al-Berdi, carried out the arrest campaign on Saturday and Sunday. He indicated that the arrests included more than 20 people, including the mayor of the Borno tribe and merchant Ahmed Ismail, who were accused of collaborating with the Sudanese army.

Sources told Darfur 24 that all detainees from Rehid Al-Berdi were transported to Nyala in 10 military vehicles. A militia source in Nyala confirmed that the arrests were carried out based on the instructions of the militia’s deputy commander.

The source stated that the detainees are currently being held in Nyala prison.
