Chaos and Scuffle Break Out at Hamdok Alliance Symposium in ‎Washington

A symposium organized by former Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok’s ‎‎“Sumoud” alliance in the US capital, Washington, witnessed chaos and ‎a physical scuffle inside the hall following an intervention by a ‎participant who launched sharp criticism of the alliance and its leader ‎over the war in Sudan and openly accused the United Arab Emirates ‎‎(UAE) of supporting the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and the war ‎in Sudan.‎

The event, titled “Where Is Sudan Heading? The Vision of the Forces of ‎the Declaration of Principles for Peace and Civilian Transition,” was ‎attended by Hamdok, alongside Babiker Faisal, Bakri Al-Jak, Suad ‎Musa, and Ambassador Omer Manis, to discuss the alliance’s vision for ‎peace, civilian transition, and Sudan’s future.‎

A video circulating from inside the symposium showed mixed ‎reactions to the speaker, who called for avoiding alignment with the ‎Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and chanted, “One Army, One ‎People.” Some attendees responded positively, while others objected, ‎before some organizers intervened to remove him from the platform ‎and take away his microphone.‎

The situation escalated into a physical scuffle and pushing as attempts ‎were made to remove him from the hall, amid confusion among those ‎present, before the altercation eventually ended.‎
