Army Repels Drone Attacks Near Atbara-Setit and Khashm-El-Girba Dams

The Sudanese Army on Tuesday repelled a drone attack targeting the Atbara-Setit Dams complex and Khashm-El-Girba Dam in Kassala and Al-Gadharef states in eastern Sudan, near the border with Ethiopia.

Local sources told Sudan Tribune that suicide drones flew over the Atbara-Setit dams complex in Al-Fashaga locality, Al-Gadharef State, before one of the drones crashed near the site without causing any casualties or damage.

The sources reported hearing loud explosions around the two sites, which they attributed to the heavy use of the Army’s ground-based anti-aircraft defenses in an attempt to intercept the attacking drones.

Facilities linked to the Atbara-Setit dams had previously come under similar attacks by suicide drones, which targeted the main dam line in Al-Shawwak, Al-Gadharef State, causing extensive material damage.

In Al-Damazin, the capital of Blue Nile Region in the far southeast of the country, militia attack drones struck the city for the second time last night.

Military sources said drone attacks on Al-Damazin, the capital of Blue Nile Region, over the past two days left four people dead and several others wounded.

Al-Damazin was attacked last night and the previous night by a swarm of suicide drones launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, targeting civilian sites, including fuel stations and depots.
