Al-Burhan and Trump’s Senior Advisor’s Meeting Accurately Detailed
Western diplomatic sources have revealed accurate details about the meeting in Switzerland held a few days ago between President of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, and the US President’s Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos.
Official Sudanese and American circles have kept the details of the meeting, which was held in Zurich on August 11 and lasted for about three hours, secret.
Reliable sources told Sudan Tribune that the initial discussions between the two men and their entourage addressed the delivery of humanitarian aid, the cessation of hostilities, and “the start of a political process that includes only civilians, excluding all warring parties, including armed movements and militias.”
The sources revealed that the discussions touched on several aspects, including a secret track related to the future of the armed movements and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and protecting the future of the army itself from political interference.
The sources stated that the talks were not currently aimed at negotiating a roadmap or the US vision for ending the war in Sudan, but rather at improving the climate of understanding between the two parties, according to the sources.
Various media sources reported that Al-Burhan informed Boulos that the RSF militia would not have a political role in Sudan after the war.
