Airstrikes Target Hemedti Residence in Nyala
Field sources and eyewitnesses reported that Sudanese military aircraft carried out intensive airstrikes in the city of Nyala in South Darfur, targeting high-value military sites and command centers belonging to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
Reports indicated that the strikes directly targeted the residence of RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as “Hemedti,” amid anticipation over the scale of losses. Preliminary reports indicated that he survived the strike, which hit the location with precision.
The operation also achieved major battlefield gains, including the destruction of a strategic drone used in offensive operations, strikes on large weapons and ammunition depots inside the city, and attacks on command-and-control centers at Nyala Airport, triggering fires and thick plumes of smoke.
The development is being viewed as a significant shift in military operations in South Darfur, as the army has moved from a defensive posture to targeting the militia’s senior leadership and strategic arsenal, placing the military landscape in the region at a new turning point.
