A Sudanese Government Official Calls for Lifting El-Fashir Siege Today before Tomorrow
The Acting Wali (governor) of North Darfur State, Al-Hafiz Bakhit, has called for lifting the siege of El-Fashir today before tomorrow, stressing that lifting the siege of the city guarantees the continued reconstruction of Khartoum.
In an interview with Darfur Now, the Wali of North Darfur quoted the proverb “the heart knows its own bitterness,” which means that no one feels your pain like yourself. He added that that lifting the siege of El-Fashir guarantees the continued return of Sudanese from abroad.
The Wali of North Darfur State noted the continuation of field skirmishes between the army and the militia morning and evening.
Bakhit revealed that El-Fashir was experiencing unbearable humanitarian and living conditions, admitting the scarcity of food supplies and rising prices. He continued, “Any statements made about El-Fashir are reality and not exaggerated.”
