“A Lackluster Statement” Arab League Statement Condemns Khartoum Airport Attacks, Skips Ethiopian Involvement

The final statement issued by the Arab League condemned the repeated drone attacks targeting Khartoum International Airport and several other vital sites across the country.

In its statement, the League expressed deep concern over the escalating use of such technologies, which it said threaten civil aviation safety and strategic infrastructure. It reaffirmed its full solidarity with the Sudanese state in safeguarding its sovereignty and national security against any attacks targeting the country’s assets and sovereign institutions.

The final communiqué notably contained no direct reference or explicit accusation against Ethiopia, despite reports and ongoing controversy regarding the sources of the drones’ launch.

Instead, the statement limited itself to a general condemnation of hostile acts, stressing the need to adhere to international resolutions prohibiting interference in Sudan’s internal affairs, and calling on all international parties to contribute positively to ending the war rather than fueling the conflict through advanced military means.
