South Sudanese and Ethiopian Mercenaries Mutiny and Withdraw ‎from the Outskirts of Al-Kormuk

Blue Nile (Sudanese Echoes) – The combat capabilities of the Rapid ‎Support Forces (RSF) militia and its allies from the Sudan People’s ‎Liberation Movement and Ethiopian groups on the Blue Nile front ‎have fallen to their lowest levels following a wave of mutinies and ‎large-scale withdrawals from their ranks on Saturday morning.‎

Multiple sources from the outskirts of Al-Kormuk reported that ‎divisions had emerged within the militia following a mutiny by officers ‎and fighters among mercenaries belonging to the Nuer ethnic group ‎and Ethiopian groups. The mutiny came after they were ordered to ‎advance to the front lines to compensate for the shortage caused by ‎the withdrawal of large numbers of militia members belonging to the ‎Mahariya and Messeiriya tribes, alongside the flight of members of the ‎Hamouda Al-Bishi group towards South Sudan.‎

In the same context, the sources indicated that the militia’s second-in-‎command, Abdel Rahim Dagalo, issued urgent orders to withdraw ‎groups of these mercenaries and redeploy them to the battlefronts in ‎Darfur.‎

The orders were met with outright rejection and military disobedience ‎by Nuer and Ethiopian fighters, who carried out a collective ‎withdrawal from the battlefield on Saturday morning, placing the ‎militia in a critical military predicament on this strategic front.‎
