International and Regional Mediation Underway to De-escalate Tensions Between Sudan and Ethiopia
Diplomatic sources told Asharq Bloomberg that international and regional efforts are under way to mediate between Sudan and Ethiopia, in a bid to de-escalate tensions and contain the growing strain between the two countries.
The sources said Western countries had stepped up their diplomatic efforts to contain the crisis between Khartoum and Addis Ababa, alongside intensive contacts between Western parties and Sudanese and Ethiopian officials aimed at reducing tensions and preventing the crisis from widening.
The mediation efforts come amid strained relations between Sudan and Ethiopia following mutual accusations between the two countries. The developments have raised concerns about a possible escalation of the crisis and its implications for stability in the Horn of Africa.
