RSF Militia Commander “Al-Fouti” Arrested on Suspicion of Spying for the Sudanese Army
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has carried out a wide-ranging arrest campaign and random searches in Nyala, targeting military commanders and dozens of civilians over allegations of leaking military information and precise coordinates to the Sudanese Armed Forces.
Sources told the Shahid Ayan platform that the militia’s intelligence service had arrested a prominent RSF commander, identified as “Major General Khala Al-Fouti,” along with a large number of members of the Messeiriya tribe in the city. The move followed suspicions among the militia’s leadership that those arrested had leaked coordinates and locations of gatherings of what are known as the “Al-Dibb mobilized fighters,” as well as other military and technical sites in Nyala that had recently been hit by airstrikes.
According to the sources, the campaign was accompanied by a tightened security cordon and raids and random searches targeting individuals from several tribes. Eyewitnesses, meanwhile, said that members of the Mahariya tribe had been exempted from these measures.
Markets, cafés, restaurants, and public facilities across the city witnessed a heavy deployment of militia members, who began searching mobile phones and checking the identities of passersby. The measures have fueled widespread panic, heightened security tensions, and mutual suspicion among the militia’s commanders and rank-and-file members in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State.
