Trump’s Adviser: Agreement Reached to End War in Sudan Through a Negotiated Settlement
U.S. President Donald Trump’s Senior Adviser for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, affirmed that the Quad countries had agreed to end the fighting in Sudan through a negotiated settlement between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
In a statement posted on the social media platform X on Saturday, Boulos said the Quad countries had agreed to use their communication channels and influence, collectively or individually, to engage with the military parties in Sudan.
He added that the Quad countries would engage with the Sudanese parties to reach a negotiated settlement that would end the fighting in the country, stressing that “there is no military solution to the conflict.”
Boulos explained that the Quad, comprising Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the United States, had held what he described as a “fruitful” meeting in Geneva to accelerate efforts to advance peaceful solutions.
He said the anticipated peace efforts in Sudan would include a humanitarian truce paving the way for a permanent ceasefire, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian assistance, and supporting the decisive efforts of the Quintet Mechanism to launch an inclusive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue.
