Hemedti’s “Keeper of Secrets” Defects to the Army

The commander of Group 135 and head of the “Nyala South” sector ‎within the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, Lieutenant Colonel Jiddo ‎Mohamed Adamo Hima, officially announced on Saturday his defection ‎from the militia and his joining the Sudanese Armed Forces, calling on his ‎comrades to leave the RSF ranks and spare their families further ‎consequences of the war. His defection represents a direct field and ‎security blow to the RSF’s center of gravity.‎

Adamo Hima served as supervisor of the personal security details of RSF ‎commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo and his deputy, Abdelrahim ‎Dagalo. His defection therefore constitutes a direct breach of the close ‎security circle surrounding the force’s leadership in its main stronghold in ‎South Darfur.‎

In a recorded statement, Jiddo said he had reassessed his position and ‎become convinced that continuing to fight did not serve Sudan’s ‎interests. He accused the RSF of serving the interests of the Dagalo family ‎and “external projects,” in his words.‎

He pointed to the displacement of families, destruction of homes, and ‎continued bloodshed among Sudanese people caused by the war, ‎affirming that these consequences were among the reasons that ‎prompted him to reconsider his position and decide to join the Sudanese ‎Armed Forces.‎

Adamo Hima said he accepted responsibility for his decision and was ‎prepared to submit to any necessary legal procedures. He also declared ‎his commitment to protecting civilians and addressed the Sudanese ‎people, asking their forgiveness for the pain and suffering caused by the ‎war. ‎

He urged his comrades in the RSF to reconsider their positions and leave ‎its ranks, concluding: “There is no shame in returning to what is right and ‎to the embrace of the homeland. The shame lies in knowing that ‎something is wrong and continuing to do it.”‎
