Kauda, South Kordofan — Two civilians were killed and another injured when a drone believed to be operated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) struck the city of Kauda in South Kordofan on October 1, according to sources from the area and a statement issued by the Atoro tribe’s traditional administration.
Sources in Kauda told Darfur24 that the victims were Mustafa Youssef Al-Gadai, 38, and Komi Mohamed Musa, 24. The city also came under daily artillery shelling on Thursday and Friday.
Koko Al-Degair Damjla, acting head of the Atoro tribe’s traditional administration, said in a statement that Kauda was subjected to artillery shelling over two days, Saturday at noon and Sunday at 6 a.m.
The tribe expressed deep regret and condemnation over the attack and its consequences, including the continued suffering of civilians and loss of life, as well as acute shortages of food supplies that had been looted and burned after residents were displaced from their villages.
The traditional administration reaffirmed the right of the Atoro people to protect their lands and resources and their commitment to the heritage and values of the Nuba people in defending the land and its people.
