Security Alert, Public Warnings and Expert Hunters Mobilized to End Crocodile Threat in Northern State

Authorities in the administrative unit of Abri, part of Wadi Halfa locality in Sudan’s Northern State, have urged residents to stay away from the Nile River to avoid crocodile attacks.

The warning followed a tragic incident in which a farmer was killed by a crocodile on Sai Island, prompting local authorities to enlist professional crocodile hunters to deal with the growing threat.

In a statement seen by Ultra Sudan, the Abri Administrative Unit said the Executive Director of Wadi Halfa and the Director of the Abri Administrative Unit expressed their condolences over the death of the victim, who was attacked by a crocodile on Sai Island, while urging residents to exercise extreme caution.

According to the statement, the attack occurred on Friday in the Sai Island area, west of Sisab (Halayib), when a farmer was ambushed by a crocodile while standing on the bank of the Nile River, resulting in his immediate death.

The Wadi Halfa locality and the Abri Administrative Unit expressed their profound sorrow over the incident and affirmed their full solidarity with the victim’s family.
