Sudanese Army Recaptures Al-Kormuk, Bombards RSF Positions in Deim Mansour

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Wednesday recaptured the town of Al-Kormuk in Blue Nile State near the Ethiopian border following fierce battles against an alliance of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N).

Shortly after securing Al-Kormuk, the army continued its operations, targeting RSF militia positions with heavy artillery in the Deim Mansour area, located about 17 kilometers south of Al-Kormuk.

In a statement, the Armed Forces spokesperson said SAF troops, backed by affiliated forces, had liberated Al-Kormuk “through force and determination” after fierce battles, inflicting heavy losses on the RSF—described in the statement as a “terrorist militia”—in personnel and equipment, and forcing the remaining fighters to withdraw.

The development marks a significant military gain in the Blue Nile region, given Al-Kormuk’s strategic location near the Ethiopian border and its importance as a key area in the ongoing conflict.
