SAF Retakes Strategic Al-Barka Area, Encircles Al-Kormuk

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) announced that it has regained full control of the strategic town of Al-Barka, located on the outskirts of Al-Kormuk in Blue Nile State.

The SAF said Al-Barka lies on the outskirts of the strategic town of Al-Kormuk within its direct operational zone, classifying it as one of the key surrounding areas along the southern axis of the state.

In a statement, the 4th Infantry Division Command said the armed forces and supporting units carried out decisive operations in Al-Barka area, resulting in the defeat of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and its allied Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), and the full clearance of the area.

The statement added that the operations inflicted heavy losses in personnel and equipment on the opposing forces, as well as the destruction of military hardware and the seizure of additional equipment.

It noted that the operation is part of a broader military plan aimed at strengthening security and stability along the eastern borders of Blue Nile Region and preventing smuggling and human trafficking activities in border areas.
