Foreign Ministry Welcomes Arab League Support for Prime Minister’s Peace Initiative
Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has welcomed the Arab League’s endorsement of the peace initiative presented by Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris before the United Nations Security Council.
The ministry described the initiative as a reflection of the Government of Hope’s vision to end militia attacks on civilians, prevent further bloodshed, protect national territory, and strengthen international peace and security.
The Arab League’s statement, issued on December 23, 2025, by Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, praised the Prime Minister’s comprehensive plan, noting its deep understanding of Sudan’s crisis, its commitment to ending the war, and its humanitarian focus. The League also underscored the importance of preserving Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Counselor Gamal Rushdi, spokesperson for the Secretary-General, affirmed that the initiative provides a serious and constructive framework for political, humanitarian, and security engagement, calling for positive international response.
The ministry reiterated that the Prime Minister’s plan embodies a concrete effort to protect civilians, halt aggression, and restore stability, while signaling Sudan’s commitment to peace and security on both national and international levels.
