Government: No Negotiations Between the Prime Minister and UAE Delegation in the United States

The government has denied reports of any negotiations or arrangements for talks between the Prime Minister and a delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during his visit to the United States.

The Media Adviser to the Prime Minister, Mohamed Abdel-Gadir, said the visit’s agenda does not include any dialogue with a UAE delegation regarding developments related to war and peace in Sudan. In press statements, he explained that the visit, which concluded on Tuesday, focused on consultations within the United Nations aimed at supporting peace efforts, strengthening cooperation on humanitarian files, and alleviating the impacts of the war.

Abdel-Gadir noted that the visit saw the launch of the “Sudan Government Peace Initiative” from within the UN Security Council.

He added that the Prime Minister met with the President of the Security Council, Samuel Zwaiger, briefing him on the Sudanese government’s efforts to end the war and achieve peace, as well as on violations committed by the militia against civilians, including acts of genocide and crimes against humanity in all areas it overran during the conflict. The Prime Minister called for the rebel militia to be designated as a terrorist organization.

Abdel-Gadir further stated that Kamil Idris will later meet with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations responsible for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, Amina Mohamme. The meeting will address the financing gap and the role of international organizations stemming from the Bretton Woods institutions, and how this has deprived least developed countries of financial contributions needed to activate development policies and bridge the gap between rich and poor.

He also said the Prime Minister will meet with the African Troika (A3)—the African members of the Security Council (Somalia, Algeria, and Sierra Leone)—in addition to Guyana, as well as African countries elected to Security Council membership starting in early 2026, namely the Congo and Liberia. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to give an interview to CNN.
