Armed Men Pillage Cash Aid for Sudanese Refugees in Chad

N’Djamena, Chad — Sudanese refugees reported on Sunday that armed men looted cash assistance on its way to the Touloum camp in northeastern Chad, igniting widespread anger among the refugees.

Refugees told Darfur24 that unidentified assailants intercepted a vehicle transporting cash aid from the Ariba municipality to the camp. The gunmen reportedly fired at the driver before seizing the funds and fleeing, and no arrests have been made.

Refugee Abdulrahman Yahya said the incident occurred last Tuesday in Wadi Al-Sunut, between Ariba and the camp.

The refugees had been awaiting aid for September and December, which had not yet been distributed, heightening their frustration upon learning of the robbery.
