Shocking Statistics: Hundreds of Tons of “Gold” Smuggled from Sudan
The Mishad Observatory revealed that around 270 tons of gold and 450 tons of gum arabic have reached regional and international markets through smuggling networks linked to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
Mishad called on regional and international companies and institutions operating in the gold and gum arabic sectors to immediately halt purchases from any illegal channels.
The organization urged them to completely refrain from dealing with intermediaries and smuggling networks that contribute to funding the conflict in Sudan, warning that such entities could become direct or indirect participants in the continuation of crimes and violations.
Mishad further called on all relevant companies and organizations to adopt transparent and responsible supply policies, cooperate with human rights organizations to expose intermediaries and smuggling networks, and disclose available information to trace looted resources used to fuel the conflict.
The Observatory emphasized that the smuggling of gold and gum arabic has become one of the most dangerous resources financing the war in Sudan and prolonging serious violations against civilians. It stressed that stopping the purchase of gold and gum arabic from suspicious sources is a crucial step to cut off the financial resources used by the Rapid Support Forces in continuing hostile operations, thereby contributing to the protection of civilians, promoting accountability, supporting the justice process, and reinforcing international solidarity with the Sudanese people during this critical period.
