Eltom Hajo Attacks Ardol: “A Truce Means Hoisting the White Flag, Surrender and Defeat to the Militia”

Eltom Hajo, head of the Democratic Unionist (Revolutionary Front) and chair of the Central Track of the Juba Peace Agreement, launched a fierce attack on Mubarak Ardol, head of the Democratic Alliance for Social Justice and a senior figure in the Democratic Bloc, accusing him of acting in the interests of other parties and of having an agenda by promoting a truce between the Sudanese government and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.

In an audio recording, Hajo said he was provoked by Ardol’s justification of what he called “the lie of the truce.”

Hajo affirmed that accepting the truce means surrender, hoisting the white flag, and breaking before the militia — it legitimizes the existing reality. He said that accepting a truce is tantamount to accepting two states inside one state, similar to the Libyan scenario.

He added: “Accepting the truce is the greatest betrayal of the homeland,” and continued: “There are those who fight while others speak of a truce over the skulls and corpses of Sudanese people.”

Hajo expressed astonishment at Ardol’s promotion of the truce, reminding him that the proposal had been tabled two months earlier by the UN Security Council and that it was raised before the fall of El-Fashir — had it been implemented then it could have saved the blood that was spilled in El-Fashir.

Hajo declared that anyone who speaks about the truce has an agenda and is working for other parties. He challenged Ardol to speak about his meetings with al-Qahṭa, Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC), and with Sumood in Geneva — about sitting with them in hotels — noting that the blood of the people of El-Fashir has not yet dried. He accused Ardol of violating the Democratic Bloc’s decisions by meeting with Sumood in Geneva after the Bloc had decided to refuse talks with Sumood.

Hajo called on Ardol to be clear and transparent instead of relying on what he called the crooked logic of “the lie of the truce.”
