Fleeing Civilians from El-Fashir Die After Being Subjected to Forced “Blood Transfers”
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and its allies have intensified crimes against civilians fleeing El-Fashir along the route to Taweelah in North Darfur, including killing, abduction, and forcibly taking blood from escapees, resulting in multiple deaths.
Survivors and eyewitnesses told Sudan Tribune that the crimes against civilians included killing, abduction, arbitrary detention, and blood collection from fleeing individuals without proper medical precautions.
Three survivors who reached Taweelah reported that forced blood transfers without health safeguards caused the deaths of at least ten civilians in a short period.
Younis, a displaced person who fled Abu Shouk camp north of El-Fashir and arrived in Taweelah, told Sudan Tribune that on August 26, a militia force accompanied by an ambulance intercepted their group near Qarni, west of El-Fashir.
He said the militia forced them to stop and beat them with whips, accusing them of being army soldiers attempting to flee El-Fashir.
Younis added that six young men were forced into the ambulance, where medical personnel drew blood from them without prior testing for blood type or suitability. Three of these youths died on the way to Taweelah due to complications.
Two other survivors confirmed to Sudan Tribune that the militia’s blood collection from fleeing civilians resulted in the deaths of at least seven people between August 1 and August 30
