SAF Airstrikes Destroy Militia Weapons Depots and Advanced Air Defense Systems in Nyala

Three identical sources and eyewitnesses confirmed that the airstrikes carried out by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State, Sunday, resulted in the vandalization of two strategic weapons and equipment depots belonging to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. The fires were still raging at the time of writing.

The sources explained, to Darfur Now, that the first depot belongs to the Agricultural Bank and is located near the customs buildings, while the second belongs to the Ministry of Agriculture (Plant Protection) and is located west of the Gadira oil pumping station.

The sources stated that the militia was using the two depots to store heavy weapons and advanced military equipment that had arrived via Nyala International Airport and the Adré border crossing with Chad.

The sources revealed that the two depots contained advanced air defense systems, modern jamming devices, and motorcycles used in rapid offensive operations, in addition to large quantities of various weapons and ammunition.

A Sudanese military source, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Darfur Now that military intelligence in Nyala had been closely monitoring the two warehouses since they began preparing and receiving weapons about a month ago. He explained that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) had installed advanced jamming devices that prevented the warehouses from being targeted in previous strikes. However, yesterday, Sunday, the armed forces succeeded in neutralizing the jamming devices and completely destroying the warehouses.

In the same context, eyewitnesses told Darfur Now that several trucks loaded with military supplies left Nyala on Monday morning, heading to Kass, located 87 kilometers west of Nyala.

The Sudanese army has recently intensified its airstrikes on RSF positions in Nyala, where the strikes achieved their targets with high accuracy, according to military sources who spoke to Darfur Now. These strikes resulted in the destruction of three United Arab Emirates (UAE) cargo planes at Nyala International Airport at different times, in addition to dozens of warehouses, advanced jamming devices, and militia training camps, as well as a number of military vehicles.
