Son of Former Vice-President and Advisor to Hemeidti Arrested in UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities have arrested the son of the former Sudanese Vice-President, Hassabo Mohamed Abdel-Rahman, and an advisor to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.

This arrest followed a complaint filed by a Turkish company accusing him of embezzling a large sum of money estimated at $1.6 million.

According to reliable sources, Hassabo’s son was officially arrested in the UAE following legal action by the Turkish company, which confirmed the embezzlement of the aforementioned sum.

Up to the time of writing, the UAE authorities had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.

On April 13, 2024, the Sudanese Islamic Movement announced the termination of Hassabo Mohamed Abdel-Rahman’s appointment as Deputy Secretary-General and the official removal of his membership from the movement. This decision came after it was proven that Hasabo had deviated from the movement’s principles and goals,” the statement said, noting that he had joined the rebel militia, which the Islamic Movement accuses of “targeting lives, values, and religion, assaulting the honor and property of the people, and violating the country’s sovereignty.”

Following the Islamic Movement’s announcement, some media outlets and social media sites circulated news of Hasabo’s appointment as an advisor to the militia.
