French Move to Designate RSF Militia as Terrorist Organisation
French MP Christophe Marion announced on Monday that he intends to submit a proposal to the National Assembly aimed at pushing for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia to be designated a terrorist organisation at the European level, while also urging the French government to adopt a firmer stance toward the United Arab Emirates.
Marion recently visited Sudan, where he held talks with Darfur Region Governor Minni Arko Minnawi and Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) President Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan. He also met victims of the conflict in Khartoum and Port Sudan, before holding discussions with political leaders, writers and theatre figures in the capital.
In a statement, Marion said he would present a proposal to the National Assembly to ensure “European recognition of the RSF militia as a terrorist organisation.”
He further pledged to press the French government to adopt “a firmer position toward the United Arab Emirates, which supplies weapons to those who kill, loot and rape.”
