Yasir Al-Atta Announces Uninterrupted Nationwide Military Operations

Member of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council and Chief of Staff of the Sudanese Armed Forces, General Yasir Al-Atta, announced that the next phase would see comprehensive and uninterrupted military operations involving all regular forces, whether stationed at their positions or deployed on the front lines.

Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Al-Atta accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia of carrying out systematic ethnically motivated killings in El-Geneina, El-Fasher and the Blue Nile region.

He reiterated that the Sudanese Armed Forces are fighting to protect citizens rather than out of revenge, stressing that they are a professional national army committed to military ethics and opposed to looting, killing and rape.

The Chief of Staff said the militia was exploiting some tribal leaders and native administrations to recruit children and send them into battle under what he described as baseless pretexts.

Al-Atta concluded by reaffirming that the army would continue its efforts to protect the people of the Darfur region from violations by rebel and lawless groups and to establish security and stability throughout the country.
