West Darfur Government Warns of Impending Targeted Operations and Urges Immediate Civilian Evacuation
The Government of West Darfur has renewed its strong warning to residents, urging them to immediately and completely stay away from all locations used as deployment and movement sites by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, stressing that presence near such areas poses a serious threat to civilian lives.
In an official statement, the state government announced that all RSF positions have been included within a “military target bank” in coordination with the armed forces and security agencies, affirming that they will be treated as legitimate military targets in accordance with international humanitarian law, as part of ongoing operations aimed at restoring state authority across the territory.
The statement further indicated that military operations have entered a “decisive and critical phase,” paving the way for expanded field movements intended to end the rebellion and re-establish state institutions. It urged civilians to strictly adhere to instructions and avoid areas of military activity in order to safeguard themselves and their families.
The government also held the so-called “Al Dagalo militia” fully legally and morally responsible for endangering civilian lives, accusing it of violating international law by using civilian facilities for military purposes and employing residents as human shields.
