Wave of Defections Hits RSF as Armed Force Joins SAF in Omdurman

Field and local sources in Omdurman reported on Wednesday that a group of Rapid Support Forces (RSF) members had defected and arrived with their full military equipment in areas under the control of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), coming from Darfur.

The reports indicated that the defecting force consists of more than 280 fighters traveling in approximately 30 fully armed combat vehicles equipped with weapons and ammunition. The group was received and secured as part of ongoing field arrangements in the area.

Meanwhile, Major General (Khala) Hussein Al-Dodo, a leader who defected from the so-called “Group 23” within the RSF militia, formally apologized to the Sudanese people for violations and abuses committed by the militia and announced that he had joined the ranks of the Sudanese Armed Forces along with his forces.

Al-Dodo said the decision to defect and join the army was driven by his alignment with the interests of the nation and its legitimate institutions after recognizing the scale of actions committed against civilians. He called on other RSF members who had been misled to reconsider their position and surrender to the Sudanese Armed Forces.
