US Is Close to Designating RSF As A Terrorist Entity

Republican Senator Jim Risch, a member of the US House Foreign Relations Committee, called for an assessment of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia as a terrorist organization after he submitted an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026, which appropriations the Departments of Defense and Energy, determines the eligibility of individuals and military personnel, and other purposes, according to a memorandum published by the US Congress on its website.

The memorandum called on the US Secretary of State and the Secretary of the Treasury to assess whether the organizations “the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan and the M23 Movement operating in the Congo” meet the criteria for designation as terrorist organizations under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
