UN Leaks Earthquake: Damning Evidence Piles Pressure on UAE as Abu Dhabi Complains to Security Council
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has submitted a formal protest to the United Nations Security Council, strongly condemning the leak of confidential UN reports concerning the Sudan crisis and describing the disclosures as part of a deliberate “campaign of political distortion and misinformation.”
The UAE’s diplomatic move came in response to leaks of reports by the UN Fact-Finding Mission and the UN Sanctions Committee, which contained accusations that Abu Dhabi had been supporting the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia with mercenaries and weapons and facilitating logistical supplies.
In its letter, the UAE dismissed the evidence implicating it as “false and fabricated.”
The letter called for such sensitive files to be assessed through impartial UN mechanisms based on concrete and independent evidence, away from politicization or media exploitation to serve the agendas of particular actors on the ground.
