U.S. Issues Stern Warning to RSF Over Al-Obeid

The U.S. Department of State has expressed deep concern over reports indicating that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied militias are massing around the city of Al-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State, warning of signs that could point to imminent mass atrocities in the area.

In an official statement, the State Department called on the militia to immediately cease all actions that could endanger civilian lives and to refrain entirely from launching any military assault on the city.

Washington stressed the need to prevent a repeat of the documented humanitarian atrocities witnessed in Al-Fashir and Al-Geneina. It also urged all parties to the conflict to strictly adhere to international humanitarian law and ensure safe and unhindered access for humanitarian and medical assistance to besieged civilians.
