TSC President Advisor says RSF sparked start of war

Political Advisor to the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Amjad Farid, accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia of directly triggering the war in Sudan.

He said the RSF initiated the conflict on April 13, 2023, by deploying forces to besiege Merowe Air Base, describing the move as the “effective start of hostilities.”

In a post on X, Farid said the step “constituted the first act leading to the outbreak of war,” holding the RSF fully responsible for igniting the conflict and its consequences.

He added that the siege of the air base was not merely a field manoeuvre but a “calculated political and military decision” that pushed the country into full-scale confrontation, with subsequent events unfolding as a direct result.
