Sultan of Dar Masalit survives assassination attempt in Portsudan

 

Sultan of Dar Masalit Saad Abdulrahman Bahar al-Din survived an assassination attempt on Sunday evening at his residence in Portsudan.

 

Bahar al-Din accused, according to a statement signed by the Sultan’s press office, a former commissioner and a youth leader of one of the eastern states and another person coming from abroad, saying they were behind the plot.

 

According to the statement, a vehicle carrying a group wearing military uniforms was parked near the Sultan’s residence. They intercepted a vehicle designated for the Sultan, but he was not inside it. They severely beat the driver and accused the Sultan with threats and intimidation, according to the statement. They then looted the vehicle and fled away.
