Sudanese official: We look forward to Russian supporting prevention of sanctions on Sudan

Acting Sudanese Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil said on Sunday that Sudan aspires Russian political and diplomatic support at the United Nations to help avoid Western pressure and prevent any sanctions from being imposed on his country.

Al-Fadil said, in statements, reported by Sputnik on the sidelines of the First Ministerial Conference of the Russian-African Partnership Forum in Sochi: “We would like Russia to use its leverage in the UN Security Council so that we can avoid the influence of Western countries that are trying to exert a lot of pressure on us, including sanctions.”

He added that Sudan look forward to obtaining Russian support in the form of political and humanitarian aid.
