Sudanese, Egyptian Interior Ministers Hold Talks in Cairo to Advance Security Cooperation
Egypt’s Minister of Interior, Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq, received Sudan’s Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General (Police) Babiker Samra, and his accompanying delegation during an official visit to Egypt.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed avenues of cooperation between their respective ministries and explored mechanisms for further strengthening coordination. They also discussed the latest developments in security issues of mutual concern. The visiting minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Egypt’s Ministry of Interior in the current phase.
He stated that the visit comes within the framework of the close bilateral relations and ongoing consultation between officials of the two brotherly countries, affirming Sudan’s interest in expanding the exchange of training expertise with Egyptian security agencies, widely recognized for their efficiency across various fields. He also underscored Sudan’s aspiration to benefit from this expertise in enhancing the skills and capacities of its police personnel in light of prevailing regional security challenges.
For his part, Egypt’s Minister of Interior welcomed his Sudanese counterpart’s visit to Cairo, affirming the ministry’s commitment to strengthening channels of communication with Sudanese security institutions, in view of the longstanding historical ties between the two countries. He expressed readiness to further advance mechanisms for cooperation, including the exchange of training and intelligence, based on a firm conviction in the importance of supporting security and stability across the region.
He further stressed the imperative of consolidating joint security efforts in light of the evolving regional dynamics and developments witnessed in recent times.
