Sudanese Army Launches Surprise Attack on Militia in El-Fashir
The 6th Infantry Division in El-Fashir revealed on Tuesday the real situation in the city, which remains besieged by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
In a statement, the division said the militia, owned by the terrorist Dagalo family, had intensified its attacks and heavy artillery shelling against residents of El-Fashir on Monday.
The statement affirmed that the national army inflicted on the militia a bitter defeat, unlike any it had suffered in previous battles.
The 6th Infantry Division added that the RSF attempted the same night to infiltrate the city in order to evacuate its wounded and dead from the frontlines, but the attempt failed and the infiltrating force was crushed. The Armed Forces then undertook the burial of the dead in accordance with religion and the military’s combat doctrine.
The division further revealed that at dawn on Tuesday, the Sudanese Armed Forces, together with the Joint Force, Special Operations Force, and Civilian Protection Force, carried out a surprise military operation.
The operation, which lasted three hours inside the militia’s hideouts and strongholds, inflicted it heavy losses in both equipment and personnel.
The statement said the army seized three armored vehicles fully equipped with weapons, along with a large quantity of fuel, while several combat vehicles were destroyed and the site cleared without any casualties among the Armed Forces.
Sources reported that about 20 combat vehicles were captured, many others destroyed, and hundreds of militia fighters were killed.
