Sudanese Army Disrupts Militia With Rapid, Surprise Advance in Kordofan

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Saturday threw the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia into disarray with a swift and unexpected advance, seizing control of eight key militia positions in East and South Kordofan within a relatively short period.

The Official Spokesperson for the Special Task Forces, said the army achieved significant field gains across rugged and complex terrain stretching from Al-Abbasiya, Dalami, Kurtala, and Habila to the city of Al-Dalang, in a record time of less than six hours. He noted that the operation overran eight militia-controlled points and advanced through difficult areas marked by forests, mountains, valleys, and seasonal waterways, describing the rapid progress as a shift in the balance of forces on the ground.

According to the Special Task Forces spokesperson, the groups neutralized by the army on Friday had been actively conducting attacks and maneuvering in Habila, Kurtala, and Alloba, in addition to forces that were assaulting Al-Dalang from multiple directions. He added that these forces no longer have an effective presence in the field, their combat capability has markedly declined, and the threat to Al-Dalang and Habila has been eliminated.
