Sudanese Army Announces Downing of Strategic Drone in Blue Nile Region

The Sudanese Army on Sunday said it had shot down a drone belonging to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) as it attempted to attack army defenses near Baling Garrison, about 130 kilometers southeast of Al-Damazin, the capital of the Blue Nile Region.

The 4th Infantry Division in the Blue Nile Region said its air defenses had downed an enemy strategic drone while it was flying over the Baling area in the eastern axis of Al-Kormuk Locality, after entering from the direction of the Ethiopian border.

Military sources told Sudan Tribune that the RSF militia had launched a drone attack on newly arrived army troops stationed at Baling Garrison in the eastern sector of the region.

The sources said the attack came hours after an army operation that succeeded in taking control of Jabal Kadem near Baling Garrison, following an RSF advance into the strategic area.

Field commanders appeared in video footage alongside the wreckage of a drone, saying that ground defenses had shot it down on Sunday near Baling Garrison.
