Sudan Warns Against Houthi Threats to Block Saudi Ports, Calls It a Red Line

Sudan has expressed deep concern over statements by the Houthi militia threatening to impose a naval blockade on ports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, warning of the potential repercussions for international maritime traffic and regional security.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the threats pose a direct danger to the safety of navigation in the Red Sea and represent a serious challenge to the security and economic interests of littoral states. It added that such actions could undermine security and stability in the Gulf and Red Sea regions, with serious implications for regional security as a whole.

The government called on the Houthi militia to immediately refrain from any hostile actions against Saudi ports or any other ports in the region.

Khartoum also reaffirmed its full and unwavering support for Saudi Arabia, stressing Riyadh’s legitimate right to take all necessary security and precautionary measures to ensure the safety of its ports and protect its national security.

Sudan urged the regional and international communities to exert genuine pressure and take firm measures to counter militia activities and work collectively to eliminate terrorism threatening the stability of the region and the world.
