Seleka Forces Establish Military Camps Inside Sudan, Local Residents Say

Local residents in the border town of Om Dafoug in South Darfur State have reported a new deployment of fighters from the Central African Republic’s Seleka rebel coalition inside Sudanese territory, raising concerns over a potential escalation along the Sudan–Central African Republic border.

The Seleka forces are allied with and fighting alongside the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia against the Sudanese government.

Hassan Al-Tijani, a resident of Om Dafoug, told Darfur24 that Seleka fighters moved from the Saraybo area in the tri-border region linking Sudan, Chad, and the Central African Republic before crossing into Sudanese territory in large numbers on Saturday.

According to Al-Tijani, the group has established military camps northwest of Om Dafoug, while its fighters have been patrolling the town on motorcycles, heightening fears among local residents over the deteriorating security situation.

Meanwhile, Russian forces operating alongside the government of the Central African Republic have reinforced their presence around the Central African town of Om Dafoug, together with allied African militias. They have also instructed Sudanese refugees, pastoralists, and farmers to evacuate the area as security tensions continue to mount.
