Security Sources: 2,500 RSF Fighters Killed in Blue Nile Battles Over Past Month

High-level security sources have disclosed the scale of losses suffered by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on the fighting fronts in the Blue Nile Region, southeastern Sudan.

The sources told Al-Unwan 24 that preliminary estimates put the RSF death toll at around 2,500 fighters over the past 30 days, killed in intense clashes and military operations conducted by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and allied forces in the region.

According to the sources, the heavy casualties reflect a deterioration in the RSF’s combat capability and the failure of repeated attempts to penetrate or break through SAF positions on the Blue Nile fronts. They added that the operations also destroyed significant quantities of the group’s military equipment and combat vehicles.

These field developments come at a time when several fronts in the Blue Nile Region are witnessing a major military and popular mobilization to back the Sudanese army, amid assurances from field commanders that operations will continue until the entire area is cleared of rebel pockets.
