The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) commander in the city of Babanousa, West Kordofan State, Maj. Gen. Muawiya Hamad Abdullah, affirmed that the SAF “will fight until victory,” pledging not to surrender to the militia besieging the city.

Abdullah, who commands the 22nd Infantry Division in Babanousa, said in a statement, “We reassure the Sudanese people that Babanousa is fine, and that our 22nd division is steadfast and will remain resilient and unbreakable before the enemy.”

He continued, according to Al Jazeera, “Let everyone know that our 22nd Infantry Division will not negotiate, surrender, or withdraw—we will fight until victory. We will not let down Sudan or the Sudanese people.”

He stressed that “anyone who attempts to approach Babanousa will meet death.”
