Retaliatory Shelling on Dilling Leaves Civilians Injured, Property Damage

The city of Dilling came under heavy artillery shelling on Sunday, which local sources said was carried out by militia forces, resulting in injuries among civilians and damage to several homes in the western neighborhoods of the city.

The sources told Ultra Sudan that the shelling targeted western districts, causing panic among residents, and prompting authorities to close markets and ban gatherings until further notice.

A military source told Ultra Sudan that the militias intensified shelling of the city following the army’s announcement of reopening the eastern road linking Dilling, Habeela and Al-Tukma, in an attempt to disrupt supply lines and create instability.

The source added that artillery from the 54th Infantry Brigade responded to the sources of fire in the vicinity of the city.

The Sudanese army had previously announced the reopening of Al-Tukma–Dilling– Habeela road, a vital route for the delivery of supplies and humanitarian assistance to Dilling after a period of isolation due to military operations.
