Police Mobilize Forces to Pursue “9 Long” Gangs and Secure Market
The Sudanese Police Forces Command announced that it has completed preparations to secure the final ten days of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr holiday, following the second Leadership Authority meeting for 2026, which approved a package of intensified security and traffic measures to strengthen stability in the capital and the states.
In a statement to Ultra Sudan, police spokesperson Brigadier Fath Al-Rahman Mohamed Al-Tom outlined the security plan, which includes heavy deployment in markets and strategic locations through mobile patrols in neighborhoods and the establishment of fixed security checkpoints.
Brigadier Al-Tom explained that the plan for securing the capital is coordinated with similar plans in the states, with a focus on activating community policing to involve citizens in reporting negative phenomena and providing information to security agencies.
The spokesperson also said that crime rates have declined noticeably due to the success of joint security cordons and ongoing operations targeting criminal hideouts. He added that night patrols and motorcycle units will continue operating across all localities of Khartoum State to pursue “9 Long” gangs and confront all forms of security disorder.
On the traffic front, Brigadier Al-Tom announced the launch of a convoy system for intercity passenger vehicles on national highways starting Monday, the 27th day of Ramadan, to ensure the safety of travellers during the Eid holiday. He also revealed the partial rollout of an automated vehicle tracking system designed to reduce speeding and limit traffic accidents.
